NEIGHBORHOOD GUIDE
Wynwood
Miami's vibrant street art and creative culture hub
Forget South Beach's tourist crowds. Wynwood is where Miami gets real — and creative. This former warehouse district turned art mecca packs more murals per square block than anywhere else in the world. You'll find James Jean masterpieces next to local graffiti artists, craft breweries pouring next to Colombian coffee shops, and galleries that stay open until the clubs get going. It's gritty, it's gorgeous, and it's constantly changing. Here's how to navigate Miami's most artistic neighborhood without looking like a tourist.

The Wynwood Arts District sits between NW 20th and NW 29th Streets, bounded by North Miami Avenue and NW 7th Avenue. Stay close to NW 2nd Avenue — that's where the main gallery action happens. The AC Hotel by Marriott Wynwood puts you in the thick of things, while smaller boutique spots like the Wyn Hotel offer rooftop pools with skyline views.
Midtown Miami borders Wynwood to the east and offers more hotel options if you don't mind a 10-minute walk. The area around NW 23rd Street has the highest concentration of restaurants and bars. Avoid staying too far west past NW 7th Avenue — it gets industrial fast and you'll spend more time in Ubers than exploring.
Look for places with secure parking. Street parking exists but fills up quickly, especially during Art Basel in December.

Frequently Asked Questions
The main strips along NW 2nd Avenue and around NW 23rd Street are well-lit and patrolled, especially on weekends. Stick to busy areas where restaurants and bars are located. The neighborhood has gentrified significantly, but like any urban area, stay aware of your surroundings and avoid wandering into darker side streets alone.
