• Social media video URLs (TikTok, Instagram) submitted for extraction
• Travel documents you upload (PDF, JPG, PNG, HEIC files)
• Day-by-day itinerary assignments
• Trip preferences (duration, type, budget tier)

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

• Device identifiers
• App usage data
• IP address
• Approximate location (city-level)

1.3 Location Data

Location data is used to:

• Power maps and place search
• Improve recommendations

We do not collect precise real-time location tracking.

1.4 Trip Documents

If you upload documents to your trips (Premium feature), we collect:

• The document files themselves (PDF, JPG, PNG, HEIC formats)
• File metadata (name, size, type, upload date)
• Association with specific trips

Documents are stored securely in cloud storage and are accessible only by the trip owner. Maximum file size is 10MB per document, with a limit of 25 documents per trip.

1.5 Local Device Storage

When you use offline features, we store data locally on your device:

• Trip data and picks in a local SQLite database
• Cached images for offline viewing
• Downloaded documents for offline access

This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly sync changes.

1.6 Calendar Integration

When you use calendar sync features, we request permission to:

• Create calendar events for your trip dates
• Add itinerary items as calendar entries

We do not read, access, or store your existing calendar events. Calendar access is write-only for trip-related events.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to:

• Operate and improve Takeoff
• Enable collaboration and sharing
• Generate AI-powered itineraries and recommendations
• Process video URLs to extract travel recommendations
• Provide alternative place suggestions based on your picks
• Store and serve your uploaded documents
• Enable offline access to your trip data
• Sync trip dates to your device calendar
• Generate CSV exports of your trip data
• Provide customer support
• Process subscriptions
• Detect fraud or abuse

3. AI Processing

3.1 AI Features

We use AI systems to power several features:

• Smart Itineraries: Trip preferences and destination data are processed to generate personalized itineraries
• Video Extraction: Submitted video URLs are analyzed by AI to identify mentioned places and travel recommendations
• Alternative Recommendations: Your picks and trip context are used to suggest similar places
• Day Optimization: Pick locations are processed to suggest efficient daily routes

3.2 Third-Party AI Providers

We may share trip context (preferences, pick types, destinations) with third-party AI providers to generate recommendations. These providers process data according to their own privacy policies.

3.3 Data Use Limitations

We do not use your personal data to train public or third-party AI models. AI processing is performed solely to provide features within Takeoff.

4. Sharing of Information

We may share information with:

We may disclose information if legally required or to protect rights, safety, or property.

We do not sell personal data.

5. Public & Shared Content

If you:

• Share a trip publicly
• Add content to shared trips

That content may be visible to others with access to the link.

6. Deep Linking & URL Sharing

Takeoff uses short URLs (tkff.to) for sharing trips. When you share a trip link:

• The trip and its picks become accessible to anyone with the link
• Anonymous contributors may add picks visible to link holders
• We may collect analytics on link visits (without identifying individual viewers)

You control trip sharing by choosing whether to share links and can delete trips to revoke access.

7. Cover Images & External Sources

Trip and pick cover images are sourced from:

• Place photo services for location-based images
• Stock image services as fallback when other sources unavailable
• Images you select from your device

When we fetch images from third-party services, we send location or search queries to these services. These requests do not include your personal information.

8. On-Device Storage & Offline Data

8.1 Offline Mode

When you download trips for offline access, we store:

• Trip and pick data in a local SQLite database on your device
• Cached images in local storage
• Downloaded documents for offline viewing

8.2 Data Control

Offline data is stored solely on your device. You can:

• View storage usage in Settings
• Clear offline data at any time
• Manage device storage independently

8.3 Image Caching

We cache images locally to improve performance. Cached images are automatically managed and cleared when storage limits are reached or when you clear app data.

9. Data Retention

We retain data:

• As long as your account is active
• As necessary for legal and operational purposes

You may request deletion of your account and associated data.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access your data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your data
• Object to certain processing

11. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect data, including encryption and access controls. No system is 100% secure.

12. Children's Privacy

Takeoff is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

13. International Users

Your data may be processed in the United States or other countries with different data-protection laws.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
