16 Bay View
Industrial-historic meets polished New England luxury. Think warm brick walls, plush bedding, and gas fireplaces — not stuffy, but genuinely refined. The rooftop bar keeps things lively in summer.
The View rooftop bar doesn't take reservations for parties under 6 — show up at opening (4pm) in peak summer or you'll wait.
Why It Matters
Camden's first true luxury hotel, 16 Bay View is part of the locally-owned Bay View Collection — a two-generation family operation. The rooftop bar, The View, has become the social hub of downtown Camden in summer. The building's 1905 bones — preserved exterior, exposed brickwork — give it character that newer builds can't replicate.
A 21-room boutique hotel built in 1905 and gut-renovated in 2015, 16 Bay View turns a century-old red-brick industrial building into some of the most polished digs on the Maine coast. Steps from Camden Harbor, it sits right in the middle of downtown — galleries, restaurants, and the harbor all within walking distance. The bones of the original structure are still very much here: exposed original brickwork, soaring ceilings, ornamental iron balconies. But the interiors are thoroughly contemporary luxury, with gas fireplaces, freestanding soaking tubs, marble-and-glass rain showers, and radiant floor heat in every room.
