Why It Matters
Camden's first true luxury hotel, 16 Bay View is part of the locally-owned Bay View Collection — a two-generation family operation. The rooftop bar, The View, has become the social hub of downtown Camden in summer. The building's 1905 bones — preserved exterior, exposed brickwork — give it character that newer builds can't replicate.
A 21-room boutique hotel built in 1905 and gut-renovated in 2015, 16 Bay View turns a century-old red-brick industrial building into some of the most polished digs on the Maine coast. Steps from Camden Harbor, it sits right in the middle of downtown — galleries, restaurants, and the harbor all within walking distance. The bones of the original structure are still very much here: exposed original brickwork, soaring ceilings, ornamental iron balconies. But the interiors are thoroughly contemporary luxury, with gas fireplaces, freestanding soaking tubs, marble-and-glass rain showers, and radiant floor heat in every room.

The statement property of the collection. A 2,500 sq ft loft on the top floor of the adjacent building, with soaring ceilings, well-worn wooden beams, and a wall of windows overlooking Camden Harbor. Three bedroom/bath suites, a full custom kitchen, gas fireplace in the living room, French doors opening to a private deck, and a second-floor den with a large sectional sofa. Designed for families, bridal parties, or exclusive couples retreats. Requires a 3-night minimum. No pets allowed in this unit. Limited hotel and housekeeping service.
