This is a 19th-century building that was damaged by fire and rebuilt — the result sits right between a traditional B&B and a boutique hotel. Rustic stone walls, old wooden floors, and colonial Portuguese furniture sit alongside rainfall showers and carefully restored details. Small-scale and social by nature, but contemporary enough to feel sharp.

Faces the street rather than the river. Individually decorated with the same heritage feel as the river rooms — stone walls, wooden floors, vintage bathroom fittings — but without the Douro panorama. Guests note these can catch occasional street noise. Good value if the river view isn't a priority. Room 8, under the eaves with a chandelier, is in this category and is a guest favourite.

Faces the Douro River. Many have French doors with Juliet balconies looking out over the water and across to Vila Nova de Gaia. Individually decorated with traditional architectural features — expect exposed stone or tiled walls, and in some rooms an original fireplace repurposed as a headboard. King-size beds, rainfall shower, and vintage bathroom details. Guests repeatedly describe these as spacious with the feeling of being on a cruise ship.
