ABode Manchester
Industrial Victorian warehouse conversion with a boutique sensibility. Parquet floors, high ceilings, exposed ironwork columns, and original tilework sit alongside contemporary room design and a lively ground-floor brasserie-bar. More character than a chain, less precious than a luxury hotel.
Book a fifth-floor suite directly through the hotel website — the celebrity rooms (Johnny Cash, Miles Davis) are genuinely worth the upgrade and are better value than comparable suites elsewhere in Manchester
Why It Matters
One of Manchester's most distinctive city-centre hotels, housed in an 1899 Grade II listed warehouse designed by the architect it's now named after. The five top-floor suites, each themed around a different celebrity (Johnny Cash, Miles Davis, and others), are genuinely one-of-a-kind in this market. Under new ownership since late 2025 with a restoration programme planned.
A Grade II listed Victorian warehouse on Piccadilly — built in 1899 by architect Charles Heathcote for a cotton merchant — that's been a boutique hotel since 2002. The building is all red sandstone, Jacobean-Baroque arched windows, and a walnut staircase with intricate tilework. In November 2025 it was acquired by Oberland and RealVantage (who renamed it the Heathcote Hotel), with a restoration plan underway. Formerly part of the ABode Hotels group, the 61-room property still runs the celebrity-themed fifth-floor suites and all-day brasserie that made it a Manchester standby. Two minutes' walk from Piccadilly Station and five from the Northern Quarter.

Cocktail masterclasses available at the brasserie bar — gift vouchers can be purchased. Led by the in-house bar team. Previously offered under the Brasserie ABode brand; confirm availability under new Heathcote branding.
The entire ground-floor bar can be exclusively hired for private events — up to 150 standing, 120 seated. Has previously hosted product launches, after-show parties, fashion events (with a private catwalk), and charity galas.
Every Friday, the brasserie hosts acoustic sets and live bands from local Manchester musicians. The ground-floor bar transforms into a lively venue attracting both hotel guests and locals. A genuine reason to stay in for the evening.
