Alex Hotel
Industrial-chic boutique with a strong local food-and-drink culture. Think communal lounge with an honesty bar and curated book library, rather than a minibar and room service manual. Rooms are deliberately compact and simple — the whole idea is that guests live in the shared spaces.
Room 602 has a corner balcony and a glass bathroom wall — it's the most visually dramatic room in the hotel
Why It Matters
Founded by the people behind some of Perth's most beloved food-and-drink brands (Little Creatures, Bread in Common, Hippocampus Distillery), Alex Hotel is what happens when serious hospitality operators move into accommodation. It's a Michelin Guide selection and one of the trailblazers of Perth's boutique hotel scene. The Telegraph called it 'arguably the best located boutique hotel in the western capital.'
Alex Hotel is a 74-room independent boutique property sitting right on the edge of Perth's Cultural Centre in Northbridge. It was founded by the entrepreneurial crew behind Little Creatures Brewery — Howard Cearns, David Martin, Nic Trimboli, Adrian Fini, and Miles Hull — and the food-and-drink DNA runs through every corner of the place. Interiors by Sydney studio Arent & Pyke lean industrial-chic: glass-wrapped lobby, Scandinavian-influenced rooms with hand-crafted furniture, and a rooftop terrace that becomes the social hub at sunset.

How you'll actually spend your days.
All guests receive complimentary access to the fitness facilities at Chris Wilson PT, located at 93 Brisbane Street nearby. There is no on-site gym within the hotel itself.
The hotel provides a fleet of Lekker bikes for guest use — complimentary and available all day. The hotel recommends a 13km cycle out to Cottesloe Beach, and bikes are the ideal way to explore the nearby Swan River paths, Kings Park, or just get around the city without fuss.
A two-level communal lounge with work stations, a small curated library of books and magazines, an honesty bar stocked with wine and beer, and 24/7 access to complimentary tea, filter coffee, and a shared fridge. It's designed to function as a living room for guests — the kind of place you'd actually spend time in rather than just walk through.
Communal rooftop space above William Street. Open to hotel guests for drinks, dining, or simply watching the Perth skyline at sunset. Full Shadow Bar & Kitchen menu and wine list available via rooftop room service.
The hotel hosts corporate events, private parties, weddings, and Christmas events across multiple spaces including the Lobby Bar, Mezzanine Lounge, Rooftop Terrace, and Shadow Bar & Kitchen.
