Why It Matters
It's a genuinely characterful Aloft, which is not something you can say about most in the chain. The 1925 Liberty Title Building gives it an architectural identity that the brand's newer purpose-built properties simply don't have — original windows, varied floor plans room to room, and a grand lobby that predates the hotel by decades.
This isn't a typical Aloft. Most properties in Marriott's Aloft sub-brand are purpose-built boxes with identical rooms in unremarkable locations. This one is housed in the 1925 Liberty Title & Trust Company Building on North Broad Street — a Classical Revival landmark with 27-foot soaring ceilings, triple-height windows, and original architectural bones that no cookie-cutter build could fake. The lobby alone, now home to the W XYZ Bar and some serious large-scale art, is worth lingering in. All 179 rooms sit directly above the Pennsylvania Convention Center, putting you within walking distance of City Hall, Reading Terminal Market, the Liberty Bell, and The Met Philadelphia concert venue.
