of Nicosia
Revamped historic villa with a contemporary residential feel — warm materials, handcrafted local furniture, and original architectural details like painted ceilings and herringbone tile floors. Not over-decorated. Quiet, intimate, Old Town pied-à-terre energy.
Ask for Room 10 — it's the top-floor room with its own private terrace and the best views over the Old Town rooftops
Why It Matters
Travel + Leisure named it to their IT List 2026 (Best New Hotels of the Year) and among the 26 finest new luxury hotels under $350 a night. It's the first serious design-led boutique hotel in Nicosia's Old Town — a city long overlooked in favour of the beach resorts. The building's history alone (designed 1900, converted to a girls school, now a 10-room hotel) gives it a story most new-builds can't touch.
A 125-year-old villa in Nicosia's Old Town, opened as a hotel in 2025 after a full gut-and-rebuild restoration that kept the good stuff: decorative frescoed ceilings, herringbone floors, hand-painted mosaics, and a grand stone staircase. Just 10 rooms. Designed by Italian architect Eraclis Papachristou and styled by Maria Neophytou using oak, iroko, bronze, leather, and silk — it reads as residential rather than hotelier. The Venetian walls are literally around the corner; Byzantine churches are the backdrop from your terrace.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Babysitting can be arranged through the hotel for families.
The hotel arranges guided tours with a local art historian and archaeologist. Tours cover the medieval Venetian walls, Byzantine churches, mosques spanning 13 centuries, and the Archbishop's Palace. Some tours cross the Green Line into Northern Cyprus to visit Selimiye Mosque (a 13th-century cathedral converted by the Ottomans) and other Northern Cypriot sites.
The hotel's own shop carries a curated selection of ceramics, homeware, and clothing from local Cypriot artisans and designers. A Thanos Hotels Kult boutique is also nearby.
The hotel's location makes it a natural base for on-foot exploration. The Cyprus Ethnological Museum is directly opposite the hotel. St. John's Cathedral, the Archbishop's Palace, and ancient stone alleyways are all within minutes. Contemporary art galleries including Is Not Gallery and Diachroniki are also nearby.
