Plaza Nice
Contemporary luxury with Belle Époque bones. Marble floors, limed-oak paneling, bespoke artwork by Saul Cathcart referencing Matisse and Renoir, curved leather banquettes on the rooftop. Feels cosmopolitan and polished rather than fussy.

Why It Matters
Anantara's first property in France — and a genuine landmark. The building itself has been the beating social heart of Nice since 1848, hosting artists, politicians, and cultural luminaries. The David Collins Studio renovation is genuinely beautiful, and the SEEN by Olivier rooftop is one of the best perches in the city.
Anantara acquired one of Nice's most storied buildings — a Belle Époque landmark that first opened in 1848 as the Hôtel de France — and reopened it in December 2022 after a full renovation by David Collins Studio, local architect Jean-Paul Gomis, and TBC Interiorismo Studio. The result is 151 rooms and suites done in soothing pastels, marble, and warm wood, with a contemporary sensibility that nods to the Côte d'Azur's mid-century golden age without turning into a museum. The sixth-floor SEEN by Olivier rooftop is the headline act: 360° views over the Mediterranean, old town, and Alps, with a menu of elevated Mediterranean-Asian fare.
