Selected for the Michelin Guide 2025 Hotel Selection and winner of 'Best Vietnamese Contemporary Art Hotel of the Year' at Robb Report Vietnam's Best of the Best Awards 2025. Each of the seven floors is curated by a single emerging Vietnamese artist — Hoàng Nam Việt, Mzung Nguyễn, Phạm Xeen, Bách Vũ, Lê Phi Long, Tuýp Trần, and Lê Quốc Anh — whose creative DNA is literally woven into the rooms you sleep in. There is also an on-site wellbeing centre, art-driven restaurant, and a cocktail menu where each drink is inspired by an artist's personal biography.
Seven-floor boutique hotel in District 1 where every floor is a dedicated exhibition space for a different emerging Vietnamese contemporary artist. The original heritage building's exposed pipes, raw textured walls, and salvaged antique furniture aren't oversights — they're the aesthetic. Rooms range from a compact 17sqm up to a 64sqm two-bedroom penthouse suite, all furnished with handcrafted wood and ceramic pieces and original commissioned artworks. The building is across from the Bitexco Financial Tower and a 10-minute walk from Ben Thanh Market. But the location is almost secondary: people come here because there's no other hotel in Vietnam quite like it.

Artist Escape
The penthouse. At 64sqm it is nearly three times the size of the entry-level room. Panoramic city views, bathtub, a two-bedroom layout — and positioned as a private art gallery in its own right. The Artist Escape is for guests who want to live inside the artwork, not just sleep near it. A 65-inch flat-screen TV is included. All the same breakfast and wellness access as every other room.

Artist Haven
The best of the standard rooms. A sweeping city view, a spa bathtub positioned on natural stone (a detail guests frequently flag in reviews), an antique footrest, and a full makeup table. At 25sqm it is not large by luxury-hotel standards, but the city view and bathtub dramatically elevate the sense of space and the overall experience.

Artist Hideaway
The entry-level room and the most intimate space in the hotel. At 17sqm it is genuinely compact, with an internal-facing window — so no city views and limited natural light. But the original artwork, rustic makeup table, tea set, and deliberately raw minimalist design make it feel more artist's studio than budget box. Good for solo travelers or couples who plan to spend most of their time out in the city.

Artist Refuge
The first room type with a King bed and the first to offer a view — a backyard-facing outlook rather than city skyline, but the natural light flooding through the large windows is notable. The calm, hushed atmosphere makes this the most restful of the standard room types. Art and furnishings take on a quieter tone to match.

Artist Retreat
Four more square metres than the Hideaway makes a real difference. The Retreat emphasizes the tension between traditional Vietnamese decor and brutalist raw materials — a deliberate design dialogue that Anima does better than almost any hotel in the city. Internal-facing window, so still no city view, but the room breathes more than the Hideaway.

Live music performances every Thursday through Sunday from 8:30pm to 10pm at ÚNU Eatery & Bar. Open to hotel guests and walk-in diners.
Each floor of the hotel is curated by a single emerging Vietnamese contemporary artist. Current roster includes Hoàng Nam Việt (Floor 1, figurative portraiture), Mzung Nguyễn (sculpture, painting, and installation using coral and steel mesh), Phạm Xeen (blurred impressionist painting inspired by his father's post-stroke vision), Bách Vũ (black-and-white abstract, displayed at ÚNU), Lê Phi Long (Indochina Wanderings series, blues and golds), Tuýp Trần (mandala and phoenix works on traditional dó paper), and Lê Quốc Anh (works at the Wellbeing Centre). The hotel hosts occasional cultural programming tied to Vietnamese festivals and seasons. Past events have included live calligraphy sessions at Tết (Lunar New Year), where a calligrapher offered handwritten spring greetings to guests.
