Why It Matters

One of very few hotels in Cusco with a certified B Corp status, its own hyperbaric oxygen chamber (claims to be the only hotel in Cusco with one), a dedicated yoga studio (Exhala), and a restaurant — Piedra & Sal — serious enough to have its own brand. The 2016 restoration was supervised by Peru's Ministry of Culture, preserving original colonial architecture while adding modern radiant heating and solar panels.

Antigua Casona San Blas is a family-owned boutique hotel built into a colonial casona dating from roughly 1750–1800, sitting in the San Blas neighborhood of Cusco at 3,399 meters above sea level. The bones are original — thick adobe walls mixed with cactus and clay, a hand-carved wraparound balcony, and original stone arches around the central patio — all meticulously restored in 2016 under the oversight of Peru's Ministry of Culture. Three generations of the same family run the place, and it shows: the staff are genuinely warm, breakfast is included, airport transfers are free when you book direct, and the hotel quietly donates S/1 to local reforestation for every guest who stays.

Suite

Located in the old casona, every suite has a unique layout — that's not marketing copy, they genuinely differ. King bed, two in-room radiators, a proper lounge and sitting area, Amazonian hardwood floors, and a deluxe bathroom with both a walk-in shower and a bathtub. Spacious by Cusco standards.

Superior Room

A step up with Amazonian hardwood floors, a 43" flat screen, heated towel rack, and standing balcony. Some are in the original colonial casona, others in the newer wing. All overlook the gardens. The Superior strikes a nice balance between character and comfort — the hardwood floors alone make it worth the upgrade.

Traditional Room

King-sized bed or separate twin beds in a room with authentic hand-kilned clay brick floors and a balcony overlooking one of the hotel's gardens. It's the most colonial-feeling category — walls are thick adobe, the bathroom has stainless steel fixtures and a Spanish-style shower. Compact but well-fitted.
