Arctic Treehouse Hotel
Nordic minimalist luxury meets Arctic forest retreat. Warm natural materials, pale tones, shearling throws, and an almost reverent quiet. Feels designed rather than decorated.
Request a TreeHouse Suite close to the main building if you want a shorter walk after dinner — the hill path is steeper in icy conditions
Why It Matters
One of the most architecturally distinctive hotels in Scandinavia. The raised cabin design lets you watch the Northern Lights from bed without leaving your duvet. Multiple World Luxury Hotel Awards winner, Green Key certified, and consistently rated among Finland's top hotels.
Arctic TreeHouse Hotel sits right on the Arctic Circle outside Rovaniemi, about 8 km from the city center. Designed in 2016 by Helsinki-based Studio Puisto, the individual wooden cabin suites are elevated on stilts among the pine trees, each built around a floor-to-ceiling panoramic window wall you face from bed. That window is the whole point — Northern Lights September through March, Midnight Sun in June and July, and snow-dusted pines year-round. Rakas Restaurant in the snowflake-shaped main building serves modern Nordic cuisine using local and foraged Arctic ingredients. This is Lapland done seriously well.
