Why It Matters
Each of the seven guest floors was designed by a different contemporary Thai artist working within a specific art movement — Pop Art, Surrealism, Impressionism, Nude Art, Op Art, Abstract Art, and Lanna Romantic Art. The artists are part-owners of their floors, not just decorators. The ground-floor gallery rotates exhibitions every few months, Jarid Restaurant won the Restaurant Guru Best Service Award 2025, and the Surr Bar is one of the more inventive cocktail spots in Nimman.
Art Mai Gallery Hotel is a boutique property that takes the art hotel concept further than most. Eight floors, seven art movements, six Thai artists who each designed — and part-own — an entire floor of rooms. The ground floor lobby doubles as a rotating contemporary art gallery. Up top: a rooftop infinity pool with views straight to Doi Suthep mountain and a hidden speakeasy bar called Surr, accessed through a grandfather clock. This is a genuinely creative place to sleep, and the price point makes it even harder to argue with.

Chalit Nakpawan brings a bright, playful 'Love is all around' theme to Floor 4. Bold pop art color palette and cheerful, irreverent details.
Artist Signature Room — Charoon Boonsuan (Floor 7, Impressionist Art)
Impressionist painter Charoon Boonsuan goes for full luxury on Floor 7 — 'The splendor of nature' theme takes in sweeping mountain views and reflects Chiang Mai's natural environment. The most classically lavish of the signature floors.
Artist Signature Room — Jitsing Somboon (Floor 3, Op Art)
Conceived by artist and fashion designer Jitsing Somboon, whose love of optical illusion runs through every detail — glass tables on plastercast Corinthian columns, exposed white piping against black electrical wires, neon lights spelling out your location. A freestanding bathtub sits behind a Chinese screen. Opulent minimalism is the best way to describe it.
Artist Signature Room — Pod Modern Dog (Floor 5, Abstract Art)
Designed by Thanachai Ujjin (known as Pod Modern Dog), a graphic artist and rock musician. His concept, 'All you need is less,' brings a colorful expressionist take on minimalism to Floor 5.
Artist Signature Room — Pomme Chan (Floor 6, Surrealist Art)
Created by renowned Thai illustrator Pomme Chanchamrassang, whose 'Sunday' concept fills the room with ornate, maximalist decor and distinctive illustrative details. Trompe l'oeil and dream-state touches everywhere.
Artist Signature Room — Sakwut Wisesmanee (Floor 2, Nude Art)
Designed by Sakwut Wisesmanee, a veteran painter celebrated for figure studies. Art deco curves meet dense wooden furnishings, with his painted portraits adorning the walls. A classy, moody affair — think gallery meets boudoir.
Exclusive Gallery Room
The mid-tier room type found across all the art-themed floors (Floors 2–8). Designed in the specific art movement of each floor. Guests who stayed report minimalistic but considered furnishings, large front windows, industrial lighting accents, and artwork over the bed. Mountain-facing rooms on higher floors are worth requesting specifically. Includes mini-bar, flat-screen TV, free WiFi, safety deposit box, and painting canvas.

A step up from the Premier Art — 30 sqm with a private bathroom featuring a freestanding bathtub rather than just a shower. Double or twin bed, city view, extra bed allowed. Adult-only. Designed within the Nude Art theme on Floor 2, with art celebrating the human form in black and white tones.
