Auberge du Bois Prin
Cozy mountain chalet meets serious gastronomy. Intimate scale (11 rooms only), rustic-modern interiors, and a genuine sense of place. This is not a sprawling resort — it's a refined hideaway where the view and the food do the talking.

Why It Matters
Operated by Emmanuel Renaut, the three-Michelin-starred chef behind Flocons de Sel in Megève (one of France's great mountain restaurants). Every room in the house faces Mont Blanc. The hotel was fully renovated and relaunched under Renaut's group, with a new wellness area added. Listed in the Michelin Guide as a hotel stay and independently verified by Tablet Hotels.
A small 4-star alpine chalet perched on the sunny, south-facing hillside above Chamonix, with all 11 rooms looking directly at the Mont Blanc massif. Stone and wood interiors keep things warm and unfussy, while the gourmet restaurant — now under the direction of three-Michelin-starred chef Emmanuel Renaut and his head chef Quentin Veyrat — is the real star of the show. Think fresh alpine comfort food, a kitchen garden, and a terrace facing one of the most dramatic mountain panoramas in Europe.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The Brévent-Flégère cable car is a 5-minute walk from the hotel; the Chamonix-Planpraz ski lift is a 10-minute walk. The hotel can arrange ski passes and equipment rental on request, and offers a shuttle service to the slopes on reservation.
The hotel sits on the hillside with direct access to Alpine trails. Lac Blanc is a few hours' walk and offers views of the entire Mont Blanc chain. Wilder options include Lac du Brévent, Lac Cornu, and the Lacs de Chéserys in the Aiguilles Rouges massif.
Upon reservation, the hotel provides a shuttle service to the ski slopes or Chamonix town centre. Useful after a long day on the mountain when the uphill walk back is less appealing.
Amenities & Practical Info
The details that matter for planning.
There is no air conditioning in the hotel. Can be warm in summer; windows without screens mean a trade-off between ventilation and alpine insects. Worth knowing before booking a July or August stay.
Served daily 7:30–10:00 AM, including homemade jams and pastries. Available on the terrace or in the dining room. Priced at €25 per person — some guests find it on the steep side relative to options in town.
Multilingual concierge staff speaking English, French, German, and Italian. Can arrange ski passes, equipment rental, transfers, and activity bookings.
Available during limited hours.
A hotel garden faces south toward Mont Blanc, used for summer terrace dining and morning breakfasts. Some ground-floor Junior Suites have private garden access.
On-site free self-parking — a genuine rarity in Chamonix. The parking level connects directly to the elevator up to the rooms, so no lugging heavy ski bags up stairs.
Pets are accepted; additional charges may apply. Multiple guest reviews confirm dogs were warmly welcomed.
