Bülow Palais
Baroque-meets-maximalist design hotel. Bold colours, gold accents, plush fabrics, and playful art — anything but a chain hotel look. The vibe is sophisticated but not stiff. Privately owned and personally run.
The Palais Bar is open to non-guests from 5pm daily — good for a pre-dinner cocktail or nightcap even if you're not staying
Why It Matters
One of only two hotels in the entire state of Saxony to hold two Michelin Keys (awarded October 2024). The Caroussel Nouvelle restaurant holds 2 Gault&Millau black toques. And in the Connoisseur Circle ranking of best city hotels in Germany, it came second nationally. The building itself is also noteworthy — the only post-war new-build to complete a street of Baroque-era facades.
The Bülow Palais is a privately owned 5-star superior hotel that opened in 2010 as a new-build on the last remaining gap site on Königstraße — right across from the Dreikönigskirche in Dresden's Baroque Quarter. The lobby hits you immediately: a curved silver reception desk in front of a royal blue wall with a red bow, neo-baroque sofas, and golden elevator doors. Swiss designer Carlo Rampazzi, who calls his style 'Maximinimalism,' created the interiors, pairing valuable antiques with contemporary art throughout all 58 rooms and suites. The Semper Opera, Frauenkirche, and Zwinger are a ten-minute walk.
