Bab Samhan, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Diriyah
Heritage luxury. Authentic Najdi architecture — low-lying buildings, sand-hued walls, triangular windows, tamarisk wood ceilings — without feeling like a museum. Warm, attentive Saudi hospitality throughout.
Book Taleed well in advance even if it re-opens to the public — it currently operates for private events only.
Why It Matters
First hotel to open in Diriyah, a UNESCO World Heritage district and the symbolic birthplace of Saudi Arabia. Anchor property setting the standard for what will become a major luxury hotel corridor by 2030. Home to Taleed by Michael Mina, his debut restaurant in the Kingdom.
Bab Samhan is the first hotel to open in Diriyah, the city considered the birthplace of the Saudi state. Built as a faithful recreation of a historic Najdi village — mud-brick walls, labyrinthine passageways, lantern-lit courtyards — it sits a five-minute drive from the At-Turaif UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 134 rooms are finished in earth tones with hand-dyed linens and locally crafted details, and the hotel brings real culinary firepower: Taleed by Michelin-starred Michael Mina (currently private events only) was his first restaurant in Saudi Arabia.

Complimentary guided tour every Friday at 5 PM. Covers Al Bujairi Terrace, the At-Turaif UNESCO district, and museums including the Weapons Museum and Arabian Horse Museum. The best orientation to Diriyah's history available from the hotel.
Group classes offered at the spa and fitness center, including yoga and guided meditation sessions.
Guided routes through Diriyah's historic pathways. A genuinely unusual running or walking experience given the setting.
Weekly at The Courtyard (5–6 PM), alongside the Luhuj Samhan. Hininy is a traditional Najdi winter specialty made with dates, butter, brown bread, saffron, and cardamom — one of those local flavors most visitors never encounter.
Daily 5–6 PM at The Courtyard. A refreshing blend of orange, carrot, lemon, and rose water inspired by traditional Najdi 'luhuj' openings that balanced light and privacy. A small but genuinely distinctive welcome ritual.
In-house cultural programming including poetry evenings, storytelling sessions, and culinary tours — all designed to connect guests with the oral and culinary traditions of Diriyah.
Five flexible event spaces and a 400 sqm ballroom accommodating up to 250 guests. All flooded with natural light. Also home to Taleed by Michael Mina, now used exclusively for private events.
