Baja Club
Colonial-meets-contemporary minimalism. Think exposed brick walls, original ironwork windows, red terrazzo floors, and the odd striped balcony cushion for color. Barragán-inspired materials everywhere. The vibe is cool and unfussy — sophisticated without trying too hard.
The rooftop bar (open 5–11pm) is open to non-guests and is one of the best sunset spots in the city — worth knowing if friends are staying elsewhere in La Paz.
Why It Matters
La Paz's first true design-forward luxury boutique, opened by Grupo Habita — the same group behind HABITA Mexico City. It's the only place in the city where you get a Michelin-listed property right on the Malecón. Also landed on the 2022 Condé Nast Traveler Hot List and World's 50 Best Discovery.
Baja Club is a 1910 colonial-style pearl trader's villa on La Paz's Malecón boardwalk, brought back to life by Grupo Habita in 2021. Architects Max von Werz and Jaune Architecture layered a sleek four-story modern extension onto the original hacienda, framing a central courtyard with a pool, pergola, and garden. The result is 32 rooms done in serious minimalism: dark-wood cabinetry, white linens, tiled bathrooms, and custom Mexican-made furnishings throughout.
