Insider Tip

The rooftop bar (open 5–11pm) is open to non-guests and is one of the best sunset spots in the city — worth knowing if friends are staying elsewhere in La Paz.

Why It Matters

La Paz's first true design-forward luxury boutique, opened by Grupo Habita — the same group behind HABITA Mexico City. It's the only place in the city where you get a Michelin-listed property right on the Malecón. Also landed on the 2022 Condé Nast Traveler Hot List and World's 50 Best Discovery.

Baja Club is a 1910 colonial-style pearl trader's villa on La Paz's Malecón boardwalk, brought back to life by Grupo Habita in 2021. Architects Max von Werz and Jaune Architecture layered a sleek four-story modern extension onto the original hacienda, framing a central courtyard with a pool, pergola, and garden. The result is 32 rooms done in serious minimalism: dark-wood cabinetry, white linens, tiled bathrooms, and custom Mexican-made furnishings throughout.

Where You'll Stay

7 room types available

Balcony Double Room
Standard

Balcony Double Room

Same size and layout as the Balcony Room but with two queen beds instead of a king — the best option for families or friends traveling together. Third-floor rooms also get the palm-framed ocean view. Clean lines, no fuss, everything done in quality local materials.

Two Queens · 46 sqm

Balcony Room
Standard

Balcony Room

A step up in size and the first room type with a balcony. Third-floor versions have a palm-studded ocean view over the bay. The super-minimalist design is consistent throughout — dark wood cabinetry and headboard, white linens, locally sourced materials — but the balcony exposure changes everything.

King · 37 sqm
Private balcony (3rd floor rooms have ocean views)Super-minimalist design in local Mexican materialsIn-room seating areaBathroom with rain shower and separate toilet
Garden Room
Standard

Garden Room

Set in the original 1910 colonial house, these are the rooms with the most character. Gently lit with genuinely high ceilings and exposed wood beams, with a minimalist look finished in local Mexican materials. Each has its own outdoor seating area surrounded by plants — effectively a private garden nook. Smallest footprint on property but arguably the most atmospheric.

Suite

Junior Suite

At 55 sqm, this is where the space starts to feel genuinely generous. A separate seating and dining area means you can actually spread out. Ocean-view balcony. Still utterly minimalist — same dark wood, white linens, Mexican-made custom furniture — but with enough room to breathe.

Patio Room
Standard

Patio Room

Bigger than the Garden Room and set in the new building, with a private patio that has table and bench seating — essentially your own outdoor living room. The materials are all local or Mexican: think tactile textures, earthy tones, custom-made furniture. Good middle-ground option between the smallest rooms and the suites.

Terrace Suite
Suite

Terrace Suite

85 sqm with a large private terrace — the outdoor space alone is the selling point here. The balcony and terrace together look out toward the bay. Separate seating and dining area inside, king bed, and a full rain-shower bathroom. Good for longer stays where you actually want room to exist.

Top Suite

Top Suite

The largest room on property at 100 sqm. Flooded with natural light and built around a massive private terrace with ocean views — the kind of place you'd order a cocktail from the bar and not move for three hours. Every design detail is the same considered minimalism as the rest of the hotel, just with a lot more of it.
