Bask & Stow
Mid-century Palm Springs meets relaxed coastal Byron — white breezeblocks, blond timber, tropical plants, desert-scape prints, Carrara marble bathrooms. Effortlessly stylish without being precious about it.
Top Shop Café is literally 3 doors up the lane — get there early on weekends before the queue builds
Why It Matters
A Michelin Guide-listed boutique property that runs entirely on 50 solar panels, zero gas, and rainwater irrigation. Designed by award-winning architect Harley Graham and curated with locally made furniture and art by a family who lives on-site. One of the few places in Byron Bay that feels genuinely quiet.
Bask & Stow is a five-suite luxury guesthouse on a quiet back lane in Byron Bay — designed by award-winning local architect Harley Graham and inspired by Palm Springs modernism and the Bauhaus movement. The result is clean lines, blond timber, whitewashed breezeblock walls, and rattan hanging chairs that swing above a plunge pool ringed with dwarf palms. It's small by design: four suites named Sun, Sea, Salt, and Sand, plus a Garden Suite and a standalone three-bedroom federation cottage called The House. No restaurant, no spa, no lobby crowd — just a genuinely private place to decompress.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
Thursday mornings at Butler Street Reserve. The property recommends this for seasonal produce — kale, Davidson plums, macadamias, finger limes — and local artisans. Off-site but a genuine insider recommendation from the owners.
Bookable tour at the Cape Byron Distillery among macadamia orchards and regenerated rainforest, where they forage botanicals for Brookie's Gin and Macadamia Nut Liqueur. Off-site but recommended by the property.
Starting from The Pass over the cliffs to Wategos Beach and up to the Cape Byron Lighthouse — around an hour return on foot from Bask & Stow. Whale and dolphin spotting en route, spectacular views over Tallow Beach. Property recommends avoiding the car park in summer and walking instead.
Clarke's Beach is a 10-minute easy stroll from the property. The Pass and Wategos are popular surf and swim spots also within walking distance. The Milne Track via Arakwal National Park to Tallow Beach offers a quieter option on hot days.
Whitewashed breezeblock-framed plunge pool surrounded by dwarf palms and sun loungers with Sunday Supply Co. umbrellas. Shared by Sea, Sun, Salt, and Sand suite guests. Open 7am–8pm. No glassware permitted in the pool area.
