Tiger Asheville
Artsy, eclectic, intimate. Vintage furnishings, local artwork, curated playlists, and an antique piano in the lounge. Feels like staying in the home of a well-connected Asheville creative rather than a hotel.

Why It Matters
Asheville's only Michelin Key hotel — awarded for two consecutive years starting September 2024. Formerly the historic 1889 WhiteGate Inn & Cottage, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Lark Hotels gutted and reimagined the space, reopening it in June 2023 as a design-forward, community-rooted inn that genuinely punches above its 14-room size.
A beautifully restored 1889 Queen Anne house in Asheville's quiet Chestnut Hills neighborhood, turned 14-room boutique inn by Lark Hotels after a full renovation in 2023. It's small on purpose — each room is uniquely furnished with vintage pieces sourced from thrift and antique shops, local artworks on every wall, and a handwritten guide from a different Asheville creative (a chef, a brewery GM, an arts festival founder) tucked inside. The vibe is part guest house, part living gallery. No TVs, no generic furniture, no buffet breakfast line — just a self-serve pantry stocked with local snacks and a grab-and-go breakfast each morning. It's the only Asheville hotel to earn a Michelin Key, and it's done it two years running.

How you'll actually spend your days.
An antique piano in the main house lounge is available for guests to play. One of those small, unexpected touches that makes the place feel like a home rather than a hotel.
Every room comes with a handwritten or printed guide by a different Asheville local — past contributors include the founder of the LEAF arts festival, chef Jacob Sessoms, the founder of the Wild Bird Research Group, and the general manager of Wedge Brewing Co. It's a genuinely distinctive touch that most guests rave about.
Locally sourced snacks, beverages, and tea available to guests any time of day. Free for all guests.
On-site hosts available during check-in hours (4–6pm). The property provides personalized local tips covering dining, arts, breweries, hiking, and more, backed by the curated room guides and the broader Asheville city guide on their website.
Guests can borrow picnic blankets and baskets from the hotel to take out into Asheville's parks and green spaces.
The entire 14-room property can be booked for private events or group stays, sleeping up to 28 guests. Includes the garden, second-floor roof terrace, three living rooms, and a working fireplace. Must be booked by phone.
