Camellas-Lloret
Bohemian-chic, shabby-elegant French countryside. Vintage trophies, aged terracotta, neutral whites and greys, organic futons — the aesthetic is effortlessly composed without feeling precious. Equal parts art-house and farmhouse.
Ownership has changed since the original founders Annie and Colin Moore — current hosts are Cathy and Jean-Marie, who receive consistently glowing reviews.
Why It Matters
Selected by both Tablet Hotels and the Michelin Guide. Has built a cult Instagram following (159K+) as a design-forward, eco-conscious maison d'hôtes in a lesser-known corner of Languedoc. Also used as a location for professional photo and film shoots.
An 18th-century maison d'hôtes in the medieval hilltop village of Montréal — not the Canadian one, the one in the Malepère hills of southwest France, about 20 minutes from Carcassonne. Four rooms plus a garden apartment, each styled with vintage flea-market finds, worn terracotta floors, marble fireplaces, and linen bedding on handmade organic mattresses. The hosts live here too, which gives the whole place a genuinely warm, lived-in feeling that no amount of interior design can fake.
