Casona Sforza
Bohemian sustainable luxury. Raw-brick vernacular architecture, artisan textiles, hammocks, and vaulted ceilings — earthy and minimal, but genuinely refined. Think barefoot-chic for adults who care about design and provenance.

Why It Matters
Designed by Alberto Kalach (of TAX Architects), with interiors by MOB Studio, Casona Sforza is one of the most architecturally significant new hotels in Mexico. It has been featured in Architectural Digest, Dezeen, Dwell, ArchDaily, and Interior Design Magazine. La Bóveda restaurant holds a Michelin Guide listing. The hotel is also a genuine social enterprise — 100% of earnings fund Pueblo del Sol, a community development project. Named Best Boutique Hotel 2025 by MEXBEST.
Casona Sforza is an 11-suite adults-only beachfront resort that opened in December 2020 on the wild southern edge of Puerto Escondido. Designed by Mexico City architect Alberto Kalach, its signature antiseismic vaulted arches create a natural telescope effect — drawing the eye from Pacific waves through to jungle — while keeping the interiors cool without air conditioning. The whole project funds Pueblo del Sol, a community initiative in the Oaxacan mountains run by founder Ezequiel Ayarza Sforza, and that mission runs through every detail: locally made furniture, in-house organic toiletries, and a Michelin Guide restaurant pulling ingredients from nearby farms and mountain cooperatives.
