Byron
Contemporary rainforest eco-luxury. Relaxed and very Australian. Not stuffy or formal — staff call themselves 'Experience Curators' and the vibe is more weekend wellness retreat than grand hotel.

Why It Matters
One of Australia's most credibly sustainable luxury resorts, regularly listed in Australia's top 10 best luxury properties. The Forest restaurant is award-winning and Chef Tiffany Jones was named Hotel Chef of the Year at the 2025 HM Awards. The Eléme Day Spa is genuinely excellent and guests consistently single it out as a highlight.
Crystalbrook Byron sits on 45 acres of subtropical rainforest about 10 minutes south of Byron Bay town, just a short walk across one quiet road from Tallow Beach. All 92 suites come with front and rear enclosed verandahs so the forest is always right there, and every room is a proper suite — not a hotel room — with kitchenette, washer-dryer, soaking tub and yoga mats. It's legitimately one of the greener luxury resorts in Australia, holding EarthCheck certification, sourcing over 80% of restaurant produce within a three-hour drive, and having eliminated single-use plastic throughout the property.
