This is Quebec City's skyline AND its most iconic landmark rolled into one. The turreted, copper-roofed château sits high on Cap Diamant above the St. Lawrence River and has stood there since 1893 — first built by the Canadian Pacific Railway as a grand railway hotel, then commandeered for the 1943 and 1944 Quebec Conferences where Roosevelt, Churchill, and Mackenzie King mapped out Allied WWII strategy. Alfred Hitchcock filmed parts of 'I Confess' here in 1952. Staying here is less like checking into a hotel and more like stepping into a piece of Canadian history.
