Ask for a Deluxe Courtyard Room to get views over the tropical garden and the vintage transportation collection

Why It Matters

Named Africa's Leading City Hotel at the World Travel Awards 2024 — for the fifth consecutive time. The hotel was the social and commercial hub around which modern Nairobi grew. Its iconic Lord Delamere Terrace has been serving guests since 1904, and the vintage transportation collection in the courtyard — including a Ford Model A Roadster — is a genuine museum piece.

Kenya's oldest luxury hotel has been running on Harry Thuku Road since December 1904. That's over 120 years of history on four acres in central Nairobi. Early 20th-century explorers, traders, and colonial settlers all passed through — the East African Professional Hunters' Association was literally founded here in 1934. The signature Tudor-style architecture across five low-rise blocks has been maintained since day one. Rooms combine colonial-era warmth with modern comforts, set around lush tropical gardens where exotic birds turn up uninvited. It's a proper Nairobi institution, not a theme park version of one.
