Frankfurter Hof Steigenberger
Old-world grand hotel — formal but not stuffy, with a 19th-century shell updated for modern business travelers and luxury seekers
Book the Autorenbar during Frankfurt Book Fair week in October if you want to rub shoulders with international publishers and authors — it gets genuinely lively
Why It Matters
One of only six hotels to carry the 'Steigenberger Icon' designation — the flagship of the entire group. It was the first hotel in Germany to use electric lighting (1881) and the first in Frankfurt to have a landline. Over 140 years of famous guests, from Empress Victoria to Elton John to The Rolling Stones. Thomas Mann once wrote that it was here he understood what a real grand hotel meant.
Frankfurt's grand old dame has been checking people in since 1876, and the bones of this place still impress. Art Nouveau façade on Kaiserplatz, 303 rooms ranging from snug 25 m² superiors to a 300 m² Royal Suite with a Finnish sauna, and a THE SPA spread across 1,000 m². The Autorenbar gets genuinely crowded during the Frankfurt Book Fair — publishers, authors, and power brokers all sharing the same leather chairs. No pool, and entry-level rooms are compact, but few Frankfurt hotels come close to this level of institutional weight.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The Iconic High Tea served in the legendary Authors' Bar — a proper afternoon tea with pastries, sandwiches, and the full spread in one of Frankfurt's most atmospheric rooms. Available Monday through Sunday during regular bar hours.
The smallest chef in the world — a tiny animated 3D character projected directly onto your plate — 'prepares' each course before the actual food arrives. Four menu options (Premium, Classic, Vegetarian, Junior). Two shows per day Wednesday through Sunday at 17:30 and 20:30. A partnership between the hotel's Zukaya restaurant and 2Spicy Entertainment GmbH.
The hotel's Autorenbar is the de facto social hub of the annual Frankfurt Book Fair (held each October). Publishers, literary agents, and authors from around the world converge here. The hotel is the closest major property to the Messe Frankfurt. Not an organized activity — just what happens naturally during Fair week.
Group yoga classes and private courses available through THE SPA. Suitable for all levels — beginners can learn fundamentals while experienced practitioners can deepen their practice under professional guidance.
