Hôtel du Château
Medieval-meets-contemporary design boutique. Think exposed stone walls and wall hangings alongside sleek bathrooms with rainfall showers. The vibe is intimate and atmospheric without feeling like a theme park. Warm French hospitality from hands-on owners.

Why It Matters
The closest luxury hotel to the Porte Narbonnaise entrance of the Cité — a 1-minute walk to the medieval walls. First spa to open in Carcassonne (2011), and the only one with Gemology mineral-based treatments. The bar terrace with its direct view over the drawbridge and ramparts is genuinely hard to beat at sunset.
Seventeen rooms. Family-run. Literally 50 meters from the gates of the UNESCO-listed medieval Cité de Carcassonne. Owners Cécile and Stéphane Rives have spent decades building something genuinely special here: a 4-star boutique hotel where vaulted stone ceilings, coffered woodwork, and handcrafted ironwork sit alongside contemporary design comforts. No full restaurant — but the lounge bar's panoramic terrace facing those ancient ramparts is the main event anyway.
