Haymarket Hotel
Bold contemporary British colour and pattern — Kit Kemp's maximalist aesthetic applied to a grand Regency shell. Not minimalist. Not beige. Bright sofas, oversized headboards, modern art throughout. Equal parts serious hotel and design exhibition.
The Honesty Bar in the Library is a great spot for a pre-dinner drink without the bustle of the restaurant
Why It Matters
Two consecutive Michelin Keys (2024, 2025). The building itself was designed by John Nash — the same architect behind Buckingham Palace and the Theatre Royal Haymarket next door. Firmdale Hotels co-founders Kit and Tim Kemp have been defining London boutique luxury since 1985, and the Haymarket's basement pool-bar is one of the most surprising amenities in the city.
A 53-room boutique hotel inside a John Nash Regency building on a quiet side street off the Haymarket. Inside, Georgian proportions meet Kit Kemp's signature riot of colour, contemporary art, and custom design — bold headboards, curated antiques, bespoke fabrics. The 18-metre basement pool, complete with pewter bar and a sound system, is the kind of thing you don't expect to find in a central London hotel. Two Michelin Keys in both 2024 and 2025 say it all.
