Hope Street Hotel
City chic boutique — warm, artistic, and properly independent. No corporate edges, no identikit corridors. The neighbourhood feel is real: the Philharmonic Hall is literally across the road, the Everyman Theatre is a short walk, and the hotel's own staff reflect the laid-back confidence of the place.
Book breakfast in advance of your stay — it drops from £19.50 to £13.50 per person
Why It Matters
Liverpool's first independent boutique hotel, now 20+ years old and still independently owned. Home to the Best Spa in Northwest England 2024 (Times & Sunday Times), the only Liverpool hotel restaurant with 2 AA Rosettes, and the city's only hotel cinema. Rooftop suites with outdoor spa baths are genuinely special.
Liverpool's original independent boutique hotel, open since 2004 and still privately owned by founder Dave Brewitt. The building is a Victorian Venetian palazzo from the 1860s — pink Cheshire brick, iron pillars and pitch pine beams — sitting at the heart of the Georgian Quarter on Hope Street, with Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral at one end and Liverpool Anglican Cathedral at the other. Inside, everything is city chic: bespoke cherry and walnut furniture, solid oak and birch floors, and a lot of white. 149 rooms ranging from cosy kings to rooftop suites with outdoor spa baths and panoramic city views.
