Why It Matters
Recognised by the MICHELIN Guide and listed on Tablet Hotels. The only hotel in Old Quebec at this price point that combines private rooms with murphy beds (ceiling-mounted), original Quebec City artwork in the showers, and a rooftop terrace overlooking Château Frontenac. Opened 2022 by owners passionate about local artists.
Hotel AtypiQ opened in June 2022 with a simple premise: squeeze every drop of usefulness out of a small room in one of the best locations in Old Quebec. The signature move is a queen murphy bed that rises all the way to the ceiling at the push of a button, turning the room from a sleeping space into a proper day room with a fold-out table. There is no restaurant, no gym, no spa — but there is a 24-hour communal kitchen stocked with breakfast ingredients, a social courtyard with hammocks and fire pits, and a rooftop terrace with sightlines straight to Château Frontenac. Part hostel spirit, part private hotel room.
