Why It Matters
It functions simultaneously as a working showcase for Humble Nature's furniture line and as a genuinely excellent hotel. Every piece of furniture is original, designed in-house, and available to buy via the hotel's shop. And the Caroline Monnet artworks — a different numbered edition in each room — give it serious cultural credibility beyond the design angle.
Nine rooms inside an 1826 stone building on a quiet residential street in Upper Town Old Quebec. The hotel was recently overhauled by the Saint-Damase Group — a local family of master woodworkers — who kept the bones (high ceilings, tall windows, original stone walls, period fireplaces) and rebuilt the interiors around custom-made ash and red oak furniture. Every room gets an original artwork by Anishinaabe/French artist Caroline Monnet, a 14-inch Obasan organic mattress, 400-thread-count Italian linens, and a gourmet pantry stocked with local Quebec products.

The largest room in the hotel. Unique fireplace and ornate period molding intact from the 1826 build. Mirrors are used strategically to open up the space and pull in light. Caroline Monnet's 'Sigma' (2021, Ed. 1/3) adds depth. Best pick for those who want space and architectural character.

Exposed stone wall and a 19th-century-style fireplace give this room the most raw historic character of the nine. Warm colors and symmetrical patterns from Caroline Monnet's 'Omicron' (2022, Ed. 1/3) anchor the artwork wall. Custom woodwork throughout.
