Hotel Casa del Coliseo
Classic colonial luxury. Warm tones, stone floors, hand-picked antiques, and carefully balanced light. It reads more like a well-appointed private residence than a hotel — which is the whole point. The entrance is deliberately discreet; the drama happens inside.

Why It Matters
Michelin Guide–listed and featured on Tablet Hotels. The entire building can be bought out for private events, complete with a private chef. The proprietor is an internationally recognized interior designer, so the aesthetic coherence is genuine, not decorator-on-a-brief.
A 17th-century colonial corner building in the heart of Cartagena's walled city, Casa del Coliseo runs just 12 rooms across three floors. The whole place was designed by Colombian-born, Miami-based interior designer Juan Carlos Arcila-Duque, who is also the proprietor — and it shows. Original timbered ceilings stay intact while everything else has been renovated to a luxury standard. Rooms are not large (the Standard starts at 16 sqm), but the quality of the details makes up for the footprint. The rooftop pool with views over the old city is the social heart of the property.
