Why It Matters
One of Biarritz's most historically significant buildings turned into a 27-room boutique hotel, with the original 17th-century coat of arms still visible above the entrance. The June 2025 addition of Maison Silhouette — a separate annex 70m away, designed by Studio Juliette Saier — adds six high-tech family and long-stay suites. The summer Jardin des Arts events (live jazz, cocktails in the garden, Tue/Thu in July–August) give it a genuine local social scene.
A fully renovated 4-star boutique hotel inside one of Biarritz's oldest buildings, dating back to around 1600. The place was originally built for Etienne de Silhouette, a finance minister under Louis XV — his family coat of arms is still carved above the front entrance. Inside, the décor by Alicia Martin of Madrid-based firm Hurlé & Martin layers tobacco browns, terracotta, and deep reds with textures drawn from Casa Lopez fabrics. Out back, a lush garden sheltered from the street noise.

This is the sweet spot. Rooms overlook the garden, and upper-floor units get ocean views — worth asking for when booking. Can be configured as a king, twin, or in some cases includes a sofa bed for a third guest. Quiet even in the middle of town.

The flagship room of the main building. Overlooking Les Halles, 45m² with a private balcony that floods the room with natural light. High-quality furnishings, sophisticated atmosphere, sleeps up to four. The balcony is the real draw.

Every Tuesday and Thursday in July and August from 7:30pm until sunset, the hotel garden hosts live music (including jazz), cocktails, and local cuisine. One of the most atmospheric things to do in central Biarritz in summer. Reservations recommended.
The garden, terrace, and outdoor bar can be privatised for weddings, birthdays, and private parties. Tailored packages available, with access to all 27 rooms for guests.
A 50m² meeting room on a mezzanine with views over the Les Halles terraces. Bose sound system, video projector, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi. Seats up to 30 in theatre configuration or 20 in U-shape. Coffee breaks and meals available via the hotel restaurant.
Saturday and Sunday brunch served in the garden or Grand Salon from 11am to 3pm. Generous spread of Basque products. Reservation required.
