Why It Matters
The building alone makes it stand out — a sensitively repurposed 1884 eye hospital with original architectural features intact throughout. Rooms are genuinely unique due to the ward conversion. A converted 1884 Victorian eye hospital turned 66-room boutique hotel sitting just off the Jewellery Quarter. The original red-brick ward structure gives every room its own odd, characterful shape — no two are the same. Classic Room
The entry-level room, but don't let that put you off — this is the Hotel du Vin 'benchmark'. Twin, double, king, or super king options, all with handsprung mattresses, Egyptian linen, and an en-suite bathroom with monsoon shower over a deep bath. L'Occitane toiletries, complimentary Wi-Fi, and bespoke artisan tea and coffee. No room is laid out exactly the same, thanks to the ward conversion.
Deluxe Room
Bigger footprint than the Classic, and the upgrade that matters: a proper standalone roll-top bath alongside a separate walk-in monsoon shower. Super king or twin bed options. Bespoke Nespresso machine joins the artisan tea kit. Bathrobes and slippers included. Extra beds for children aged 3–14 available at £30/night.
Junior Suite
Two large open-plan suites available. Emperor or super king bed (now configured as a sleigh bed), a proper lounging area, and an en-suite with both a roll-top bath and walk-in monsoon shower. More breathing room than the Deluxe — good if you want to actually spread out.
Signature Suite – Penfolds Grange
The top of the house. Named after the legendary Australian wine, Penfolds Grange is a huge open-plan suite with an Emperor bed, relaxed lounge space, a walk-in wardrobe area, and — the real showpiece — twin freestanding roll-top baths and twin showers. There's also a separate second twin bedroom, making it work for small groups or a family wanting serious space.

Hosted by Hotel du Vin's in-house Wine Ambassadors, these guided tastings cover classic French regions (Bordeaux, Burgundy) through to New World bottles. Informal and educational in tone. Bookable through the hotel or via the wine tasting experiences page.
