Why It Matters
Mexico's first B Corp-certified hotel and genuinely the only property in Los Cabos built around an active musician-in-residence and artist-in-residence program, with a functional underground recording studio that has hosted Khruangbin, Natalia Lafourcade, Kings of Convenience, and more. The beach club sits on one of the only swimmable beaches in San José del Cabo.
Hotel El Ganzo started life in 2012 as an artist residency with an underground recording studio and a handful of rooms to rent. It's grown into a 69-room adults-only boutique on the calm marina side of San José del Cabo — the quieter, more interesting cousin to Cabo San Lucas's party strip. Art covers the walls (murals, interventions, large-scale installations), a rotating cast of musicians records in the basement studio and plays live sets, and the rooftop pool draws a genuinely cool crowd. The beach club, reached by a two-minute boat taxi across the marina, sits on one of the only swimmable beaches in the entire area. Mexico's first B Corp-certified hotel, too.

Artists intervene directly in the hotel — large-scale murals on exterior walls, art installations in rooms, and community engagement through talks, exhibitions, and classes. Past residents include Pedro Reyes, Omar Rodríguez-Graham, Fernanda Caballero, and Malin Bobeck Tadaa.
Access to the private beach club on one of San José del Cabo's only swimmable beaches. Cabanas, sunbeds, full-service food and bar, DJ sets, live music, and occasional outdoor movie nights on the jetty.
A complimentary 2-minute shuttle boat escorts guests from the hotel's boat deck across the marina to Ganzo de Playa beach club. Small but genuinely fun — and practical.
Ongoing program of talks, exhibitions, film screenings, and community events organized by the hotel.
Co-designed by Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman, the 18-hole Puerto Los Cabos Golf Course is a 5-minute drive from the hotel with dramatic Sea of Cortez views. Tee times arranged by concierge.
Regular live music programming at El Restaurante: Gipsy Nights with Alebrije Flamenco on Wednesdays (19:00–21:00), Blues Night on Thursdays (19:00–22:00), and El Ganzo Collective live sessions on Fridays (20:00–23:00).
El Ganzo's flagship program brings artists like Khruangbin, Natalia Lafourcade, Julieta Venegas, Kings of Convenience, and Hermanos Gutierrez for week-long residencies during which they record original work in the hotel's underground studio and often play live performances for guests.
The hotel's basement recording studio — accessed through wooden trap doors in the lobby floor — was designed by artist-in-residence Mark Rudin. Staff will often give informal tours when the studio isn't in active session. Ask nicely.
Live DJ sets at the rooftop pool every Saturday and Sunday from 13:00 to 19:00.
