Why It Matters
Salzburg's only SLH property and the only 4-star hotel in the city with a Michelin Key. A 700-year-old building on a quiet pedestrian lane steps from Salzburg Cathedral. The structure began as a 16th-century coppersmith's workshop — and that copper heritage still shows up downstairs, where Gasthof Goldgasse serves dishes in traditional Kupferpfandl'n (copper pans). Upstairs, 16 individually designed rooms each pay homage to a specific Salzburg Festival performance, with wall-to-wall art prints shot exclusively by festival photographer Luigi Caputo. The hotel's crown jewel: a maisonette-style suite with a private rooftop terrace delivering panoramic views of Hohensalzburg Fortress and Salzburg's Old Town roofline. This is the one room in the building that genuinely earns the word 'spectacular'.
