Hotel Lilla Roberts
Art Deco boutique with a fashion-forward edge. The lobby rotates exhibits from Finnish designers, the cocktail bar (Lilla e) goes hard on creative Nordic-twist cocktails, and the whole place has a low-key cool personality rather than corporate stiffness.
Book a Lux or Junior Suite if you want to feel the 1930s high ceilings properly — the Comfort rooms are stylish but tight at 24 m²
Why It Matters
The building's layered history — power station, then police station, now hotel — shows in the architecture. High ceilings, arched windows, and a courtyard that was once an industrial yard. It's also the most fashion-conscious hotel in the city, running a monthly rotating Finnish designer partnership since 2017. Green Key and Nordic Swan Ecolabel certified.
Hotel Lilla Roberts sits in a building that started life as an electrical power station — designed by Selim A. Lindqvist in 1909, expanded by modernist architect Gunnar Taucher, and eventually converted into a hotel refitted by Jaakko Puro. The result is 130 rooms of Art Deco glamour tucked onto a quiet side street in Helsinki's Design District, about a five-minute walk from the Esplanade. Dark tones, geometric motifs, golden accents, and a fireplace lobby give it a genuinely intimate feel — not the sterile minimalism you get at a lot of Scandinavian city hotels.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Complimentary bike use for hotel guests. Helsinki's Design District and the waterfront are very cycle-friendly — the hotel's central location makes this a practical way to explore the city.
Since 2017 the hotel runs a monthly rotating Finnish fashion partner in the lobby — designers set up their own display and showcase their work. Hotel guests get an exclusive discount from the featured brand at check-in. The May–June 2026 partner is Karvinen Helsinki.
Book Bar Lilla e's bartenders for a private cocktail masterclass — they'll teach you how to make Nordic-twist cocktails. Works for groups of friends or corporate team events.
The Krog Roba courtyard terrace hosts a programme of summer events — wine tastings (including the Lilla Wines Rosé Tasting in June with DJ sets), seasonal brunches, and special dinners. Mostly ticketed or reservation-based.
