Why It Matters
Santiago's first real design hotel — opened late 2016 and quickly landed on Condé Nast Traveler's Top 20 South America list four consecutive years. Earned a 2025 Michelin Key and a Prix Versailles 'World's Most Beautiful Hotels' citation. The building itself (designed in 1929 for the daughter of a Chilean politician) is a heritage landmark; the glass roof floor that floods reception with natural light is genuinely memorable. On-site restaurant Demo Magnolia seats only 15 guests for a tasting menu by chef Pedro Chavarría, alumni of Boragó and Quintonil.
Hotel Magnolia is a 40-room boutique hotel in Santiago's historic centre, inside a 1929 heritage mansion that architect Cazú Zegers and interior designer Carolina Delpiano spent two years restoring. Original harlequin tiles, stained-glass vitraux, a marble staircase from the building's days as a private home — all of it in conversation with industrial-style steel elevators and glass floors that funnel light six storeys down. The same duo behind Tierra Patagonia, and it shows. No pool, but the seventh-floor Terraza with views over Cerro Santa Lucía makes up for it.

A step up with hand-made silkscreen prints illustrating iconic Chilean figures and landscapes. Some units are fully clad in eucalyptus planks on walls and ceiling — attic-feel but with high ceilings — while others retain the original vitraux windows. The top category. A two-room layout — foyer leads into a living area with designer furniture and a proper dining table where the hotel can serve you in-room. The most private and spacious option in the building, and worth it for special occasions or longer stays.
