Hotel Marincanto
Old-school Amalfi glamour done right. Yellow-and-blue color palette, bougainvillea-draped terraces, lots of sea views. Romantic and intimate, not flashy. Think returning guests who've been six times, not influencers on a press trip.
Book a Junior Suite with the outdoor terrace Jacuzzi — it's one of the best-value upgrades for a private outdoor soaking tub with sea views
Why It Matters
Only hotel in central Positano with its own private beach, reached via a long stone staircase. An infinity pool carved directly into the cliff. Terrazza Celè restaurant, named after the founder's wife Celeste, has been listed among the most beautiful restaurant terraces in the world. Family-owned for four generations with genuine warmth that's hard to manufacture.
Hotel Marincanto started as a modest B&B in 1967 when Giuseppe Vespoli, then-mayor of Positano, opened its doors. Now run by his grandchildren — the family's fourth generation in hospitality — it has grown into a polished 40-room cliff hotel without losing its personal touch. Built across cascading terraces cut into the cliffs of 'la Sponda', the most panoramic stretch of Positano, it holds the notable distinction of being the only hotel in the town center with a privately owned beach.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Carved directly into the cliffside, the pool sits at an elevation that makes it feel level with the horizon. Water and sea appear to merge in a wall of blue. Sun loungers around the deck and bar service on hand.
The only privately owned beach in central Positano, reserved exclusively for hotel guests. Set on flat rocks at the base of the cliff, accessible via the hotel's own panoramic staircase. Sun loungers, umbrellas, showers, and bar service. A serious advantage over fighting for space on the public beach.
The concierge can arrange private boat trips along the Amalfi Coast. Highly recommended by guests as a highlight of the area. Capri, the Li Galli islands, and the beaches of Arienzo and San Pietro Laureano are all accessible by water.
An 18th-century villa on the hotel grounds, accessible to Marincanto guests. It overlooks the sea and provides a different architectural experience from the main terraced hotel building.
The hotel actively hosts weddings on its sea-view terraces, marketed as ceremonies 'midway between sky and sea.' A dedicated wedding brochure is available and a gallery of past events is on the official site.
