Hotel Matilda
Gallery-cool, adults-only city boutique. Clean white lines, deep beige and brown furnishings, bold art on every surface. Urban and design-forward, not colonial or rustic. Quiet and intimate rather than a party hotel.

Why It Matters
Michelin Key holder. Condé Nast Traveler's Best Hotel in Mexico 2021, 2022, and 2023. AAA 5-star. Member of Design Hotels and Marriott Bonvoy. One of Mexico's most design-forward urban boutiques, with a world-class spa, a Michelin-starred chef at Moxi, and a serious contemporary art collection.
Hotel Matilda opened in September 2010 and functions as a 32-room adults-only boutique with a sleek white cubist exterior that looks nothing like the colonial buildings around it. Named after a Diego Rivera portrait of the owner's mother, the hotel treats contemporary Mexican art as a core feature — not decoration. Walls hold commissioned works by Bosco Sodi, Aldo Chaparro, and Nacho Rodriguez Bach, and the hotel holds a Michelin Key rating alongside five consecutive Condé Nast Traveler Best Hotel in Mexico wins (2021–2023).

The hotel regularly hosts art exhibitions featuring local and national Mexican artists, along with dining events pairing acclaimed chefs with fine wines. The recent Millesime Weekend brunch at Moxi (with Chef Vicente Torres and BLN Brands wines) is an example.
