Hotel Montevideo opened in October 2022 and immediately set the bar for luxury in the Uruguayan capital. It's the first and only Leading Hotels of the World member in Montevideo — a distinction that comes with real weight. Argentinean interior designer James Boyd Niven had total creative control here, and the result is a hotel where the decor is genuinely part of the experience: real hardwood floors, brass fixtures, Italian 600-thread-count sheets, '70s furniture by Willy Rizzo, and handcrafted cowhide chairs from Paraguay. All 80 rooms have private balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows. The 10th-floor Polo Bamba Skybar pulls in locals as much as hotel guests, which is always a good sign.

The entry-level room here is genuinely superior. At 32 sqm, it is not tiny.
