Hotel Pucic Palace
Baroque aristocratic heritage. Think original stone arches, vaulted marble staircases, Bulgari bathroom amenities, and antique oil paintings — all in a building that has survived a 1667 earthquake, two world wars, and the 1990s Homeland War. Intimate and theatrical rather than slick or corporate.

Why It Matters
One of the only hotels actually within Dubrovnik's city walls, and the most prestigious. Built as a palace for the aristocratic Pucić family in the 17th century, it became the city's first hotel in 1859. Restored in 2002 following UNESCO guidelines using traditional construction materials. The Michelin Guide calls it the top hotel within the old town walls.
A 17th-century baroque aristocrat's palace that reopened as a hotel in 2002 after meticulous restoration under strict UNESCO guidelines. The Pucić Palace sits directly on Gundulić Square — the only open square in Dubrovnik's entire Old Town — which means you wake up to the sound of a morning farmers' market below your window. 19 rooms and suites, all individually designed, named after famous citizens of Dubrovnik, and lined with antique furnishings, handmade tile mosaics, and olive-wood parquet floors. No pool. No spa. But you're a ten-minute walk from everything worth seeing in Dubrovnik, inside the walls.
