Hotel Quadrifolio
Colonial time-capsule. Calm, intimate, and refined. The kind of place where the courtyard is cooler than the street outside and the staff knows your name by day two.
Ask about the Sunset by the Bay package — it includes wine and a cheese board while sailing past the city walls. Maximum 12 people, so it's genuinely intimate.
Why It Matters
One of only eight suites, a 2025 Michelin Key recipient, and a TripAdvisor Best of the Best 2024 winner. It holds the World Luxury Hotel Award (2015) for Best Classic Hotel in the Americas. Very few properties this size offer a heated pool, a rooftop jacuzzi, a private 38-foot boat, and full concierge — but this one does.
Hotel Quadrifolio is a 17th-century colonial manor house turned eight-suite boutique hotel, sitting on the Calle del Cuartel inside Cartagena's walled old town. It opened in 2008 after a careful restoration that kept the building's original bones — high ceilings, thick walls, an interior courtyard — intact. The name comes from the four-leaf-clover motif that appears throughout Spanish Colonial architecture in Colombia, and the hotel really does feel like a piece of that era: quiet, slightly time-warped, and genuinely intimate in a way that larger properties can't fake.
