Hotel Royal Hoi An Danang
Romantic, narrative-driven luxury. Think four-poster beds, silk brocade pillows, velvet sofas, and freestanding tubs — all tied to a real historical love story, not a decorator's whim.

Why It Matters
The Michelin Guide-listed hotel holds a genuine design concept rooted in a real cross-cultural 17th-century romance, not a generic 'Asian inspiration.' It earned the Wine Spectator Restaurant Award in 2019 (first in Hoi An), and the Luxury Lifestyle Awards named it Best Luxury Honeymoon Hotel in Hoi An (2024). The Deck Bar is the highest rooftop bar in Hoi An.
Two hotel wings, one love story. Hotel Royal Hoi An Danang is built around the 17th-century romance of Sotaro Araki, a Japanese merchant from Nagasaki, and Princess Ngoc Hoa of Hue — whose marriage was regarded as the first between a Vietnamese citizen and a foreigner. That backstory isn't just marketing copy: it literally splits the property in two. The Sotaro wing goes dark and Japanese, with rich wood floors, glowing lanterns, and a rooftop pool bar. The Wakaku wing is all curved ceilings, lavish drapery, and an Art Nouveau-inspired ground-floor pool. Both wings sit right on the Hoai River, a short walk from Hoi An's ancient town, with 187 rooms across seven categories.
