Belgrade's first true boutique hotel, Townhouse 27 occupies a reconstructed 1930s building on a quiet residential street in Stari Grad, about 200m from the pedestrianised Knez Mihailova. Just 21 rooms, all of them oversized by any standard, filled with original sculptures and photographs by Belgrade artist Gabriel Glid. The hotel won first prize at the Belgrade Architectural Salon for its design — and the staircase doubles as a rotating gallery. No pool, no dedicated spa floor. What it does have is one of the most talked-about breakfast spreads in the city and a staff that will actually remember your name.
