Hotel Vilòn
Art Deco meets cinematic Roman bohemia. Pastel tones, velvet furnishings, and abundant original artwork. Feels more like staying in a well-heeled friend's palazzo than a city-center hotel. Staff uniforms were inspired by Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Why It Matters
One of Rome's most intimate luxury properties, with the rare privilege of overlooking Palazzo Borghese's private gardens. The building's layered history — Borghese family residence, then a convent school for poor girls — adds genuine character that most Roman hotels can't touch.
Hotel Vilòn is a 17-room boutique hotel tucked inside a 16th-century building that was once an annex of the Palazzo Borghese — and later, rather poetically, Rome's first school for disadvantaged girls. The design team is a trio of creatives: Giampiero Panepinto handled the common areas, scenographer Paolo Bonfini designed each guest room with a cinematic flair, and Florentine photographer Massimo Listri curated the artwork. The result is genuinely residential — walk-in closets, complimentary minibar snacks and drinks, marble bathrooms with rain showers, and a jasmine scent that greets you at the door.
