Hotel & Villa Auersperg
Old Salzburg townhouse meets considered mid-century design. Organic-first, sustainability-minded, wellness-conscious. The owner's husband personally designed every room, so there is genuine personality throughout — Tivoli speakers, curated book shelves, original 100-year-old floorboards in the Villa building. Feels personal, not corporate.

Why It Matters
One of the few independently owned boutique hotels in Salzburg running on Common Good Economy principles. Three generations of family ownership, an obsessively sourced organic breakfast buffet, and a genuine city garden that feels rare in a property this central.
Hotel & Villa Auersperg is a third-generation family-run 4-star boutique hotel occupying a historic building from around 1870, now run by Bettina and Mark Wiesinger. It sits in the lively Andräviertel district — about a 10-minute walk from the Old City — and the whole place feels more like a well-designed private home than a hotel. Mark designed every room himself, mixing antique bones with bold color choices, design classics, and quality fabrics. The Petit Spa on the roof, the famous organic breakfast buffet, and the A* Bar & Garden are the real draws.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
The hotel has a dedicated seminar and yoga loft that can be rented for workshops, co-working sessions, and small events. Business corner with computers available for guests.
The hotel maintains a library of DVDs and CDs available for rental — a nod to the analog touches throughout the property, paired with the Tivoli music systems in every room.
Just around the corner from the hotel, Freiraum 41 is described as Salzburg's most modern private training room. Bookable for 60-minute private sessions at €29. Access via chip key picked up from hotel reception. High-end equipment, sound system, changing and shower facilities. Open daily 04:00–23:00.
The hotel keeps a fleet of high-class Velo-de-Ville city bikes and e-bikes for guests. Helmets available on request, and navigation devices for bikes too. A suggested bike route takes you through Mirabell Gardens, down Hellbrunner Allee, through Hellbrunn Palace grounds, and back — about a half-day circuit through the best of Salzburg.
The private hotel garden with sun loungers is included for all guests. One of the genuinely rare things about the property for a central Salzburg hotel. In summer, breakfast and A* Garden dining happen here. Outside dining hours, it is just a nice place to be.
Claudia Kahr from Draussensein is a certified functional and health trainer, neuromental trainer, EPT® practitioner, and yoga teacher. Her specialty is outdoor movement in nature — sessions are bookable directly through the hotel experiences page.
The hotel provides two printed running routes. Route 1: Andräviertel & Salzach — flat, along the river, minimum 2.82km with open-end extension. Route 2: Kapuzinerberg — 4.43km with 210m elevation gain, for anyone who wants to work harder. Maps downloadable from the hotel website.
