Centric Kanazawa
Contemporary boutique-meets-urban launch pad. Modern Western design furniture and bold graphic interiors anchored by traditional Kanazawa craft details — lacquerware room numbers, Kutaniyaki ceramics, gold leaf motifs. Youthful and energetic without feeling generic.

Why It Matters
Kanazawa's first major international hotel brand property, positioned as the de-facto base for exploring a city that geisha districts, samurai quarters, and Japan's top-ranked landscape garden (Kenroku-en) call home. The rooftop bar, a 100-piece curated local art collection integrated into the hotel spaces, and genuinely helpful English-speaking staff set it apart from the competition.
Opened in 2020, Hyatt Centric Kanazawa sits directly in front of Kanazawa Station — a city National Geographic named one of its Best of the World for 2025. The hotel packs 253 rooms across 14 floors, a 14th-floor rooftop bar, and an in-house art collection of over 100 locally handcrafted pieces into a sharp, contemporary building. Rooms are generously sized by Japanese hotel standards (starting at 32 sqm), the staff are locals who actually know the city, and the Hokuriku Shinkansen stops right next door.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Open around the clock, the fitness center has modern cardio machines, strength equipment, free weights, and yoga mats. The room is decorated with a mural depicting the route of the Kanazawa Marathon.
A hands-on gold leaf crafting session in a 200-year-old traditional townhouse in the Higashi Chaya-gai geisha district, arranged through the hotel. Using the same tools and materials as professional craftsmen, guests create the 'oborozuki (hazy moon)' pattern on a Yamanaka lacquerware plate. Ends with matcha tea and Japanese sweets from Morihachi confectioners. Private group format for 2–8 people.
The hotel has assembled over 100 unique artworks and handcrafted pieces rooted in Kanazawa's traditions, integrated throughout the public spaces and guest rooms. A digital art book documents the stories behind each piece. Staff can guide guests through the highlights.
Every Friday and Saturday from 8pm to 11pm, resident DJs play a curated mix across genres in the rooftop bar. Cover charge JPY 550 plus music charge JPY 550 per person during DJ hours.
Daily from 5pm to 7pm on the open-air 14th-floor terrace. Champagne by the glass or bottle while the city shifts from day to dusk. Best seat in the hotel for the light at that hour.
