Built in 1970 by local legend Carlino Cinque and still family-owned, Il San Pietro di Positano is carved directly into the cliffs of a headland about 2km south of Positano town. The hotel cascades down nearly a dozen levels, each room with its own private terrace and unobstructed sea view. It holds three Michelin Keys, a Michelin-starred restaurant (Zass), and the only truly private beach in Positano — reached by an elevator blasted through 88 meters of solid rock.
