Why It Matters

Named New Hampshire's #1 Boutique Hotel and ranked #2 Best Places to Stay in North America by Condé Nast Traveler Reader's Choice. Holds a DiRoNA Silver Award (2025), Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, and was previously AAA Four-Diamond rated — rare for a property this size and this remote.

A 19-room adults-only boutique inn perched in the White Mountains of northern New Hampshire, with a history stretching back to the late 1800s — the property was originally designed by architect Stanford White. Every room has a gas fireplace, complimentary gourmet breakfast is included, and the on-site restaurant Forty at Thorn Hill has earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. The inn briefly closed after a fire in 2024 and fully reopened in September of that year, now freshly restored.
