Place Roma
Private members' club meets art collector's home. Very fashion-crowd, very interior-design-forward. Discreet from the street — the facade gives little away. Warm and unstuffy once you're inside, with a library, a mirrored-door elevator with an actual L-shaped couch, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you feel like you might belong here.
Book a room with a balcony (Superior Balcony or JKDeluxe Balcony) for rooftop views — worth it even if slightly snug
Why It Matters
One of only four J.K. Place properties in the world (Rome, Capri, Paris, and Milan incoming), and arguably the most ambitious of the group. Bönan's design is more sober here than his nautically-inspired Capri property — classical busts alongside club chairs, Areca palms, and artwork that somehow coheres. Member of Leading Hotels of the World, Virtuoso, and Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts. The hotel was previously Rome's school of architecture.
J.K. Place Roma occupies a 17th-century townhouse that was once Rome's school of architecture — fitting, given how precisely every detail has been designed by Florentine architect Michele Bönan. With just 27 rooms and suites, it operates at true boutique scale: rosewood canopy beds, Carrara marble bathrooms, Massimo Listri photography on the walls. The staff-to-guest ratio runs roughly 2-to-1, which means the concierge team genuinely knows how you take your coffee.

Traditional afternoon tea served from 4pm to 6pm in the bar and lounge area. Paired with the JKBar's signature cocktails and mocktails.
A guided running tour through Rome's archaeological sites — past the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill. A surprisingly effective way to see ancient Rome and get a workout at the same time. Arranged by the concierge team.
Two complimentary Fiat 500 e-bikes are available for guests to explore Rome and Villa Borghese. Up to 3 hours of use, once per stay. A sustainable and genuinely fun way to cover the city — particularly good for the flat stretch along the Tiber toward Borghese Park.
The chef prepares a fully customized gourmet wicker hamper for guests to take into Rome's parks or ruins. Includes homemade breads, pies, sandwiches, cheeses, fresh fruit, wine, water, and a bottle of Franciacorta Cà del Bosco Cuvée Prestige. Pairs perfectly with the e-bike rental to Villa Borghese.
An ancient art form taught by a maestro — one of the more distinctive on-request experiences the concierge team can arrange, linking back to Rome's deep craft tradition.
The concierge arranges guided personal shopping in both the luxury boutiques of Via Condotti and more hidden local artisan shops for authentic 'made in Italy' finds.
Concierge-arranged private tours of the Colosseum, Vatican Museums, and lesser-known Rome corners with expert guides. The team has a well-connected black book for exclusive access and after-hours visits.
The concierge team can source tickets to prestige theatrical performances, concerts, and sporting events in Rome. Their connections extend to sold-out events.
